Thanksgiving

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving.  The turkey was delicious!

Nat enjoyed the day too!

Geni's friend, Arianna, spent the week with us.

We walked out back and picked out our Christmas tree.

What a great holiday break!

Fall Color

I've been wanting to show off some of New Hampshire's spectacular fall leaves, but the season is slipping away.  We've been busy with school open houses, soccer and field hockey games, and baking desserts with our orchard apples.  Then I remembered that I have a wonderful example of fall color in my own yard.  We have a beautiful Japanese Maple.

This is the view from standing in my driveway.  Some pretty yellows.

A Christmas Tree farm borders the back of our home.

Lots of leaves are already on the ground.
We like this new brick walkway and small patio area at our back door.

We love our fire pit.

Apple Picking

Walking down the hill from our house to the apple orchard to go pick apples.

This year the apples are especially large and plentiful ~
also beautiful and tasty!

We always start eating the apples as we walk back up the hill.

Julie & Julia

We were all supposed to go away for the weekend to attend a celebration dinner for Mike's brother's recent marriage.  Makayla had pink eye, so she and I stayed home.  Sunday was rainy, but after being home all day Saturday, we wanted to get out.  The next town has a small movie theater ~ seats less than 100 I'm sure.  It was packed ~ maybe 3 empty seats.  Six dollars each and two dollars for popcorn.  Such a deal!  Makayla was the only kid and I bet I was the next youngest there.  The crowd started laughing at just the sight of Meryl as Julia ~ we could hardly hear the dialogue at first.  A good movie we both enjoyed.  It was nice to be able to go see a good movie with my daughter that wasn't a kid's movie or borderline inappropriate due to violence, sex, or language.  At the end of the movie, the crowd applauded.  Makayla was mystified.  Why are they doing that?  What's going on?
Remember the days when going to a movie was such a special treat?
